Attorney Referrals
Our mental health experts adhere to those psychological issues that are relevant to the court and thoroughly describe your client's mental state in terms of the particular legal tests involved. As psychological forensic experts, we will define concepts, identify data, and clarify procedures for legal purposes which will ensure accountability for our conclusions.

Our understanding of psychopathology and treatment makes us sensitive to the possibility that an attorney may refer a client that is suffering a great deal of emotional conflict. Custody battles are a prime example where such conflict may exist. Not only are the children of a custody dispute affected emotionally, the parents may be so overwhelmed with conflict that an attorney may find it difficult to provide legal consultation. Furthermore, a parent's emotional issues may negatively influence their image as a good parent and result in the loss of custody.

Therefore, in addition to the custody evaluation itself, our clinic can provide therapeutic assistance to address these issues with the attorney's client. Our forensic and therapeutic expertise can help parents understand how their emotional conflict interferes with their ability to understand "the best interests of the children" standard. The goal is to assist the attorney by facilitating a parent's ability to cope with the custody battle and awaken the healthy side of the parent that may have been overrun by unhealthy emotional conflict.
